WHAT IF?

Today’s modern society prides itself on breeding new ideas, new innovation, and new growth at the intersection of government, commerce, the arts, and more… but what if value creation didn’t have to come with social destruction? What if the system so focused on creating more was just as focused on protecting our most vulnerable?

AT 10SEVEN, WE ADDRESS FINANCIAL TRAUMA
AT THE ROOT OF THE PROBLEM

In the spaces, places, and organizations that consistently and deliberately oppress Black people and prevent them from building wealth. We partner with those who are ready to acknowledge their role in perpetuating systemic trauma, providing them with rigorous research insight to better understand that trauma and developing bespoke solutions to help mitigate it.

You see, we don't believe the entrepreneurial spirit is all bad.

It’s what’s kept many oppressed groups alive, despite the odds stacked against them. But we focus on harnessing this spirit to creatively check the system, outsmart harmful policies, and help people begin to heal.

OUR BRAND UNDOES THE FINANCIAL TRAUMA INFLICTED ON BLACK PEOPLE AND THEIR COMMUNITIES

We partner with leaders and institutions from across the private sector. This includes cultural influencers and activists, as well as financial institutions who acknowledge their role in inflicting trauma and want to make a change. Leveraging our proprietary research and collaborative approach, we help our partners invest in meaningful impact.

How we change the narrative

TO US, CHANGING THE NARRATIVE MEANS UNDERSTANDING THAT THERE IS NO EASY WAY TO "FIX" FINANCIAL TRAUMA AND DISMANTLE AN INHERENTLY HARMFUL FINANCIAL SYSTEM.

Effective Programming
Thoughtful, targeted programs, activities, initiatives, and campaigns are essential to education and awareness, especially for those most affected by financial trauma. But it does not necessarily guarantee an impact on the larger financial system, which is the perpetrator of harm.
Groundbreaking Research
Research underlies everything that we do-every program, every speech, every interaction. Research allows us to gather a comprehensive fact base that not only informs how we both help Black people navigate the financial system but also start the healing process. It shines light on a system built to harm.
A Path to Healing
Healing is not a fixed journey. It is hard and uneven as we better understand how financial harm has affected Black people and broader society. Healing involves sitting with and processing difficult feelings and providing language for abuse. We provide the space and permission that Black people need to do that.

Meet our founder

CHLOE B. MCKENZIE

Chloe McKenzie is a celebrated traumagrapher, wealth justice activist and founder of BlackFem and 10Seven. Before BlackFem, 10Seven, and her groundbreaking research, McKenzie experienced financial trauma firsthand. Growing up in Prince George's County, MD, one of only a handful of counties where Black families out-earned white families, she saw financial privilege and abuse work hand-in-hand,

She briefly found fulfillment as a mortgage trader on Wall Street, with some financial counseling to Black women on the side, until it made her sick. And that made her question everything.

In 2015, BlackFem was founded and now has a renewed focus on healing financial trauma and is propelling Black people forward. And now, 10Seven allows us to achieve wealth justice on a large scale.
